Description

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting a Joint Chair across both Trusts. Our Trusts work together in close partnership with exceptional leadership from Karen James OBE as our Joint Chief Executive since 2020.  The appointment of our first Joint Chair marks a critical development for our partnership, bringing our Boards and governance together, and supporting a shared strategic vision for the benefit of our staff and the communities we serve.

The Organisations

Our partnership is driven by our shared commitment to enhancing patient care and population health, improving outcomes, reducing inequalities, and ensuring the sustainability of services for the benefit of our patients and communities.

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust delivers acute hospital services and community care across the Stockport locality of Greater Manchester and its surrounds. We have an annual budget of £400m and 6,500 staff. Our latest CQC rating was Requires Improvement overall, with a rating of Good in the Caring domain, and we continue to make progress in our transformation journey.

Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust also provides acute and community services, supporting around 250,000 patients working across ICBs in both Greater Manchester and neighbouring Derbyshire. We have an annual budget of £290m and 4,150 staff, with a CQC rating of Good overall.

The Role

Our Joint Chair will build on strong foundations to further the effectiveness of our collaborative approach. Accelerating the joint working of our Boards and Councils of Governors, you will provide leadership to our strategic direction and integrated governance arrangements; acting as a role model for an inclusive and respectful culture.

This is an exciting time for our Trusts, and as our Joint Chair you will have a real opportunity to influence and drive forward collaboration in the Places and Systems we serve, as we play an important role in addressing our population needs and improving health outcomes for our populations; embracing the opportunities of digital and enhancing our community services to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.

The Person

We are seeking an outstanding, visible, and values-driven leader, with experience of providing leadership as a Chair or equivalent level role, in a complex, regulated, and person-centred environment. With a passion for addressing health inequalities and for innovation, improvement, and partnership, you will be skilled in leading effective governance and building high-performing Boards.  Your focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion will be critical, and you will share our ambition and hold the interests of our patients and the wellbeing of our staff and communities at the heart of your leadership.

We are keen to attract candidates who can bring diverse perspectives, and we welcome expressions of interest from the widest possible range of backgrounds, particularly those who are under-represented at board level in the NHS.
